~The Grains of Gold ~

It begins…
A mild breeze
Blowing softly
In an early dawn
Through the empty quarters
Humidity snatches
The heavenly taste of air
In the heat of burning rays

The heat takes its tool on me
Undeterred walking to my destined journey
My home is nothing but grains of gold
My feet imprints quietly
Leaving traces
A statement that once I took this path
In time the footsteps are erased
The grains are traveler like me
Fated with the journey of wind
Unsheltered even by a tent

My hands are inborn to climb the golden dunes
To mount any length or height
My instinctive feet crosses the ocean of sand
I will cross it million times
Many times in the past
And many more of my remaining years
I sank in quicksand- the unknown
Took a bit of its pinch
I tasted the bite of rattlesnake
Yet unmoved by this wilderness
Unafraid to fall in my destined pit
I’m the son of these golden dunes
The ocean of emptiness with nothing but grains of sand-
My motherland

Thought: Okay this poem was written in 2005 ...
This is a journey of a bidu where he has to presue his trips going beyond the heat and walking on the golden grains which is the desert. He can not go back as his is the son of the desert and no matter what obstacle he faces he remains a bidu his homland is the desert. the first part is on the weather that he has to face. Second part the Desert it self where he walks but history does not record his trail as his footsteps fades with the wind and he is like the sand fated to always travel sometime not even sure of the distination he is heading.
Thrid part is the obstacles he faces and his goal to reach beyond anything...

~Love Resides~

I watched a human love deserting me Leaving me angry and bitter
There was still reason to live again

I heard a tune
That whispered into me
A simple statement
Love is every where
So I began to search
On where love lives
It was nestling everywhere
How I loved the surrounding love
In a gentle wave
Tickling the sand
A symbiotic relation
Even with plants and bees
I love the sound of love
A horizon uniting with the sea
Dew droplet that kisses a leave
The wind sways a tree
In all the feelings
That fills the void within
So I finally learned
That love resides in many places
Not just in heart of human beings

"There is no end to love, our appreciation to what it brings to us surely will be a journey of many heights" Copyright 2008 Nasra Al Adawi

~Silence is Music~

I have heard
There is a man searching for me
Perhaps its true
Or maybe not
Just one of those rumors
Surfacing out of no where
But if you come face to face with him
Tell him that I'm also on a search
Searching to find my music
One more day to live
More heartbeats to keep me going
I have been drowning in emptiness
Gasping for life
I have knocked many doors
Yet not knowing what I'm looking for
I have been watching me dying slowly
For a second fear stabs me
I die momentarily
A millisecond of silence
Thoughts are no longer racing through
Oh, Am I really floating
Surfacing within myself
For once I go into core of peace
No noise and no sound
I get attached to this kind of music
My senses are cleansed
Filled with air of silence
Once again ready to face the chaotic world
I come back all determine
To face twisters of life

Run Down

She was so over worked
Crossing the limit for where she could reach
Her eyes where so alert
Through all the caffeine
So her eyes would not take rest during night
She has goals to reach
Deadline to cross
Most of all she is on race against herself
Still
Her body lets her down
Falling apart
She can not even face the breeze

"Your body has rights on you,
Even machine breaks,
If over worked
Leave your body to rest"

~ I'm Done ~

I'm done crying
I'm done hurting
For I cried all the tears
That I have ever held inside
I have tabbed all the doors
That carried my inner grief
So I emptied all my pockets
To keep walking on unknown road
In weight of feather
Yet with a heart of mountain
For all the tears I shed
For all the pain that I endured
I could no longer fall apart
I had to grow stronger
So I'm undefeated with sorrow
I just take it as that's my fate
Yet I'm still standing
Despite all arrows thrown on me
I'm done feeling sorry for myself
I'm done hating my own existence
I had to face my inner fears
Been held back all this time
I grow stronger
Against all strikes that hits me down
To stand simply as mountain

In simplicity

Becomes calligraphic scripts
Pure pleasure to write

~Entrustment~

We are handing you
Our life
Our daughter
To care and love
To cherish her
Till death takes you apart
So when the course is dark
Let her be the flame
To light the journey ahead
Make a promise
To care of her
As your care for your soul
Keep that promise for life

Last night, my cousin got married. Seeing him getting married and thinking of the responsibility that he will take ahead of him. Is to care for a family. We feel that when a man gets married, taking a woman is huge responsibility as her family had entrusted you with their soul, and you should be up to this responsibility.

~ The Embracing Pen ~

As much as I wanted
No day would go on
Without few lines of poetry
Poetry for soul
Yet there are days like today
When this tiny box
A laptop we call
Is only here to assist me
To realize a page of dream
Yet it comes crushing down
I wonder how I doubted
A simple as it is,
A pen has always been a writing partner
Filling all the gaps
For when all the latest technology
Will crash in hands of bugs
As usual my pen will embrace me back
As always standing there to be a partner in writing

~ I Miss That Kind of Sleep~

As I close my eyes
I shut all the windows
Of here and now
So I can float
Between space and time
For the sake to grip
A second without thoughts
That keeps knocking my walls
For no reason
Except to snatch my stillness

~Work of Translation~

On a search of tranquil path
A deserted desert to be my home
So I can sink within
Sink within the grains
No words in here
Nor a vibrating voice
Except the sand
That waits in silence
Then the wind
Gives a visit to this desert land
Translates all the silence of sand
So it can print a new language
A dialect of its own
On a surface where no page is needed
A page of sand dunes
Scripted poetry
Without letters and words
Within lines and curves
Read only by the wind and sand

My inner being
Except with my tears
So when you find me crying
Be glad that I'm speaking from within
I have finally discarded all my masks
With nothing but falling tears
And that is not easy to come
Now I'm all free
No longer suppressed with my fears

Visiting the Sultan Qaboos University and meeting student studying English literature is such great opportunity for me. First it allows me to dream that I can also get my university Degree but the amazing part is to meet such amazing young talents… This poem inspired by young lady who I was referred to as one of promising poets…

May this poem inspire her to reach the heights of writing…

No matter how the waves knocked me back
All I could do is grasp on light
To find my way through the shore

~ A Dream From Tanzania ~

I met a young woman
From Tanzania
Who was passionate about poetry
She was asked
Who she would like to meet
Without a pause she affirmed
"Maya Angelou will be a dream"
Then she continued
Pouring her reason of such selection
"She is all poet
With her hands creating tunes
Where no music needs to be played
She is our voice
The voice of all women
She is Maya Angelou "
Then she looked at me
Speaking to me softly
Handing me her dream

If you happen to meet Dr. Angelou "
Please tell her
That her words was the first poem I have ever read"

So here I am holding a dream
From a young woman
Dreaming to meet Maya Angelou

At a sunlight that spread its rays
There is a home within these inner walls
So when my hands are not reaching lights
I'm embracing my inner strengths
So I can stand in the dark
Alight as the sun
That can circle the dark
Standing all in might

~ Wooden Soul ~

Door in Omani fort

A secret beyond wood curving
A breathing soul

It has a voice that can not be silenced"
