Without You
Let this shinny moon
Retreat from my sight
The night to sip away
The sparkling stars
Leaving me a page of dark night
As I watch happiness
Burning in ashes
I gaze into my eyes
Brushed my soul in black kohl
Splashed with an eye shadow of pain
Dark circles of tears
A rumination of self ordeal
Brought by my own hands
Plucked rose left to die
That’s who I am
My soul wants to surrender
Under the mercy of pain
An injured prey admits defeat
While you are parading
So full of your conquest
Without you knowing
I gather my strength
I’m holding a strong heart
And without you
I will take a new path

I think so...
Really lovely, particularly 'leaving me a page of dark night' and 'without you I take a different path'
'Plucked rose left to die'
a very powerful metaphor!!
This one will stay in my mind for a while.
Nice. Leaves you wanting.
excellent....
this is such an amazing poem. i love how you use the moon & stars.
and i love these lines:
"Brought by my own hands
Plucked rose left to die
That’s who I am
My soul wants to surrender
Under the mercy of pain"
very deep & intense.
one of my favorites from you :)
very beautiful poem, full of longing and yet brave enough to make a fresh new resolve.
one of my favourites!
That was awesome! So much strength and power behind the soft flow of your words.
great blog u got here Nasra :) ... as for ur poems... typical u. lol... keep it up!
sad but real .. sometimes life forces you to take paths you'd rather not take but the human sprit is something that amazes all.. that and time great combination..love the line " leaving me a dark page".. conjures up an image of a clean slate.. perhaps waiting for another story another poem..
Thank you for your kind reply..This poem was inspired by an Omani Lady who working on her book of stories...
After reading one of the story I was inspired to write this one
Powerful images in this one, Nasra. I like the last six lines concluding this piece:
While you are parading
So full of your conquest
Without you knowing
I gather my strength
I’m holding a strong heart
And without you
I will take a new path
That you are picking yourself up, though you are hurt, you know you have strength within yourself.

Nasra:
I am getting all your poems and I enjoy reading them
without making any comments to you.
"A Window Within Myself", like all your other poems,
it's elegant, expressive, descriptive, poetically
expressive but ,as always, full of sadness, sorrow and
self incrimination.
I only hope that this is your poetic style and not a
reflection of your own innermost feelings and/or
personal torments.
Alex
Nasra,
I was touched by the emotional intensity of this poem, and it left
me with a bittersweet feeling. It is one of your best works.
Sometimes our best poems come from deep inside of us, when we feel
things the most. Every line was beautiful.
Sincerely,
