“If only I can forgive
Myself
From here onwards
I will soar
Skies within me”

A contemplating soul
Wondering all over the sky
Yet the first place to begin the search
Lies within ourselves
Letting the stream to pass by
In its coolness touch to remind us
There is no other place but inside of us
Where we can allow forgiveness to ourselves

Thanks, Nasra.

Here in the US there probably won't be much happening on blogs until Tuesday. It's "Labor Day weekend" - most people don't work Monday. The weather's usually nice this time of year, as it is today - not too hot or cold. Most people visit their families, maybe have a barbeque (eat outside) - just relax.

I can't leave the house, too frail, so that's why I'm still on the computer...

Do you write your poems in your native language then translate them to English, or first write in English?

Yes, that is a nice thought: to soar within ourselves, and why shouldn't we? You'll only have yourself to blame for not forgiving yourself, and it's easier if you forgive yourself for that too, right off the bat. I think we should start building from where we're strongest, then hold ourselves up from there. Beating ourselves up is like trying to build a house out of sand. You'll know your power best when you use it to help yourself rather than resisting yourself. I hope you'll make peace with yourself. You're helping me do the same.

it is true, that the only thing that stops us from excelling to our highest potential is ourselves and what we tell ourselves, the limitations we impose on ourselves all based on past experiences which have taught us to harbor fear. i admire those that are unstoppable. forgiveness is important. beautiful poem to communicate this message!

I agree with gulnaz above, and have come to realise that forgiving oneself is often much harder than forgiving others.

It's frustrating and counter-productive, but so many of us, myself definitely included, place too high expectations on ourselves. For me, that is often wrapped into needing to forgive myself: to be patient, caring, understanding, and as empathetic as I try to be with others. I am often far too harsh on myself.

I shall read Paul's link. He comments regularly on one of my favorite blogs, one of the very first I discovered that hold so much humanism. That blog is writtn by my net friend "Second Hand" known as "SH" at:www.My FreeThoughts.com

Very touching poem,nasra!

But forgiving oneself is just so difficult to do, especially if we don't know why should we forgive it, or what "sin" we have committed to ourselves.
